This day combines a hike into mining history, a family-run lunch, and a walk through a village carved in stone, all around Lettomanoppello at the foot of the Maiella.

The day begins on the Sentiero dei Minatori, the Miners' Trail, which follows the route once walked daily by workers heading to the Santa Liberata mine, one of several sites in the area where black bitumen was extracted, giving the Maiella Nera its name. The walk is not physically demanding, though joining with an expert guide, such as the local team at Majambiente, adds historical and naturalistic context that the trail alone does not provide.

From the trail, the group moves to Trattoria Da Concezio for lunch. The restaurant is still run by the family that founded it, with Matteo and his mother Paola continuing a menu built on traditional Abruzzese cooking. The baccalà dish is the house specialty and worth requesting by name.

After lunch, the visit continues on foot through Lettomanoppello's historic center to see the pietrales up close: bas-relief carvings cut directly into white Maiella stone by local and international stonecutters, the source of the name Maiella Bianca. Cultural initiatives such as the "10 Giornate in Pietra" event have grown out of this stonework tradition, and the accumulation of carvings across the village has earned Lettomanoppello the title of Città della Pietra, the City of Stone.
