Abruzzo's food culture isn't a backdrop; it's the main event. Our food and wine experiences put you directly in the hands of the people who grow, harvest, and make what ends up on the table. Depending on the season, that might mean hunting for truffles at dawn in the oak forests, pressing grapes alongside a winemaker during harvest at a Montepulciano or Villamagna DOC estate, or sitting down to a meal where every ingredient comes from within a few kilometres of where you're eating.
The producers we work with don't perform for visitors. They do what they do, and they bring you along. You taste arrosticini cooked on a brazier by the people who raise the sheep, not in a restaurant that describes it as "traditional." When the season is right, the experience reflects it, and so does everything you eat and drink.
Questions About Our Food and Wine Experiences
Are the food experiences seasonal?
Yes, and deliberately so. We try to put online the rhythm of the producers. Truffle season runs from autumn through winter, the grape harvest falls in September and October, and different products peak at different moments in the year. Tell us when you're visiting, and we'll match you to what's actually happening on the ground.
Can dietary requirements be accommodated?
Always worth asking. Most of our experiences involve producers who work with whole, natural ingredients, and we'll do our best to find the right fit for your group. Let us know when you get in touch.
Do we visit the producers directly, or is it more of a tasting?
Both happen, depending on the experience. We have direct relationships with local winemakers, farmers, and artisan food producers — and part of what makes these experiences different is that you meet them where they work, not in a tasting room set up for tourism.
Can I request a private food experience or tour?
Yes, we have plenty of coordinator guides who can help us and bring you in our experiences privately.
