Tenuta Tre Gemme is a 45-hectare certified organic estate in Catignano, about 30 minutes from Pescara, with views reaching the highest peaks of Abruzzo. The entire experience takes place on the property. The guided tour is conducted in Italian.
You arrive to a welcome glass before the guide takes you through the vineyard, walking the rows of vines that have been cultivated here for over six decades. The organic farming approach is woven into the explanation along the way.
The cellar visit brings you underground to the original 1960s structure, where concrete tanks built into the earth are still central to production. The guide explains how these tanks, unchanged since the winery was founded, shape the texture and temperature stability of the wines made here.
The tasting takes place in the Sala delle Vigne, a room fitted with panoramic views over the vines, modern temperature control, and early 1900s antique furniture. You taste three estate organic wines: Pecorino DOC, Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC, and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC, each produced from grapes grown on these same 45 hectares. Alongside the wines, you are served local bread with the estate's own organic extra virgin olive oil, a board of regional charcuterie and cheese, honey, and fruit compote.
The three DOC wines poured here are made entirely from certified organic grapes grown in sight of the tasting room.
