The Good Friday Procession in Chieti is widely considered the oldest and most evocative in Italy. Your journey into this living masterpiece begins in the historic Piazza San Giustino, where you will meet Rita, our dedicated local expert guide. Under her guidance, you will walk along the elegant Corso Marruccino, discovering Chieti’s hidden gems, including the ancient Roman Temples (Tempietti) and the symbolic Piazza della Trinità.

Rita provides an insider’s perspective, weaving together Chieti's rich Roman and medieval history with the profound spiritual symbolism of the procession. As the haunting notes of the Miserere—performed by hundreds of violins and singers—begin to echo through torchlit streets, you will move beyond the role of a spectator to become a witness to a sacred Italian legacy. Whether you choose to hear the morning rehearsals in the Cathedral or soak in the afternoon atmosphere before the grand procession, this experience offers a rare glimpse into the authentic heart of Italian devotion.
